Press release: Aculab participates in first NG112 Communications Plugtest in Europe
21st March 2016, Milton Keynes, UK – Aculab, a leading provider of deployment proven telephony products to the global communications market is pleased to announce its participation in the first ever emergency communications interoperability Plugtest in Europe, an event that took place between 14-18 March, in Sophia-Antipolis, France.
The event, organised by ETSI and the European Emergency Number Association (EENA), was designed to trial independently and jointly all components of the 112 communication chain based on NG112 networks. During the event, different items of the NG112 chain were put to the test.
Aculab’s GroomerII gateway, tested during the Plugtest, forms a key element of the EENA NG112 Long Term Definition (LTD) defined Legacy Network Gateway (LNG). In its capacity as the Protocol Interworking Function (PIF) for an LNG, Aculab’s gateway acts as the critical interworking interface for emergency calls between the legacy switching equipment in fixed and mobile carriers’ exchange offices and the EENA LTD defined Emergency Services Internetwork (ESInet).
“We are proud that our solution was part of the NG112 Plugtest event, and to have participated in that learning experience. Improving citizen access to emergency services is a fundamental goal, and we will continue to optimise our products to do just that,” commented Ian Colville, Product Manager, Gateways, at Aculab.
